Master Planning :: Two Harbors Visitor Center

In 2005 the Two Harbors Resource Team and the Minnesota Sustainable Development Partnership identified the need for a new Information Center located in Two Harbors.

SAS+Associates was hired to help the Two Harbors Resource Team narrow the potential sites from the five sites identified down to two for the new Information Center.

SAS+Associates conducted site analysis for the two preferred sites, developed numerous Schematic Design Concepts for the two sites, created preliminary cost estimates for each schematic design and presented the Schematic Plans to the Two Harbors Resource Team to further refine the project within each site.
Two Harbors Resource Team selected a preferred Schematic Design Concept for each site and SAS+Associates created Design Development drawings, refined cost estimates, and identified elements of differences between the sites to aid in site selection. A preferred site was selected based on the final Design Development Drawings.

This project has multiple program elements, including a visitor’s center, trail connections, public spaces, a trail head, new offices for the Chamber of Commerce, regional Interpretive Center, and potential leased space.

SAS+Associates worked closely with the Two Harbors Chamber of Commerce, Two Harbors Resource Team, ARDC and an architectural sub-consultant to gather information, needs, and identify programming for the proposed project.
